What is ALOXI?
ALOXI is an antiemetic medication. It belongs to a class of drugs called
5HT3 receptor antagonists. ALOXI is used in adults to help prevent nausea
and vomiting on the day of chemotherapy that is highly likely to cause nausea and
vomiting and up to 5 days following chemotherapy that is moderately likely to cause
nausea and vomiting.
Many patients who are given ALOXI may be able to get through cycles of chemotherapy
with less nausea and/or vomiting. It is important to try to prevent these symptoms
before they start. Before you start chemotherapy, ask your doctor about ALOXI.
How is ALOXI administered?
ALOXI is given as a single intravenous (IV) injection about 30 minutes before the
start of chemotherapy, often through the same IV line that will be used for your
chemotherapy.*
* The infusion line should be flushed with normal saline before and after
administration of the ALOXI.
What are the potential side effects?
The most common side effects of ALOXI in the prevention of CINV are headache and

Who should not receive ALOXI?
Do not take ALOXI if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in ALOXI.
The ingredients are as follows:
- Active ingredient: palonosetron hydrochloride
- Inactive ingredients: mannitol, disodium edetate, and citrate buffer in water
