What is ALOXI?

ALOXI® is a medication called an antiemetic. It is used in adults to help prevent the nausea and vomiting that can be caused by chemotherapy.* Many patients receiving treatment experience chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).

A single IV dose of ALOXI before treatment can help prevent nausea and vomiting up to 5 days after certain types of chemotherapy.* No other single dose of antinausea medication lasts this long. So you can stay strong and continue with your course of treatment. And not feeling nauseous can help you keep right on doing the things you enjoy doing every day.

How is ALOXI administered?

ALOXI is given as a single intravenous (IV) injection before the start of chemotherapy and is often given through the same IV line that will be used for your chemotherapy.

What are the potential side effects?

The most frequent side effects of ALOXI include:

  • Headache
  • Constipation

You may notice other side effects. These are usually mild to moderate in nature. If you are concerned about side effects, talk to your healthcare professional.

Who should not receive ALOXI?

Do not take ALOXI if you:

  • Are younger than 18 years old. Safety and effectiveness in patients under 18 have not been established
  • Are allergic to palonosetron hydrochloride or any of the inactive ingredients in ALOXI. Ask your healthcare professional if this may be a concern for you
